I'm just about to give up! My garden is not cooperating with me. The soil is great, the seeds are fine, the weather is good...at least I think so about all of those. Back in June I posted at my mom's blog (and thought I made a mention here also but can't find it) about my garden. I had high hopes even though my planning was sketchy.
Here's a photo from my garden today, July 4, 2013, and then the one from June 8, 2013.
Where I'd planted cantaloupe, beets, and broccoli, there is pretty much nothing now. Nothing came up. Also, tomatoes are wherever they please! I replanted beets, broccoli and put spinach where the cantaloupe was. Will just have to see how it goes.
I'm really unsure why it's not going well.
Depending on where you are, it's been a bad year for germination. Out of my squash garden only 1 plant came up, none of my cucumbers did. We had a very late wet and cold spring so the seeds may have rotted. The corn is also stunted. The cool weather plants are doing much better this year though!
ReplyDeleteYes, it's been a cool wet Spring here as well. The radishes are doing great in my garden. Perhaps I should just plant a full garden of radishes :)
DeleteI thought the broccoli would do well with the temperatures. I replanted and hope something will come up.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. It is much appreciated!
My garden didn't do anything for the longest time. Then the cat started using it for a kitty box, then the goats got out and ate a bunch of stuff, then the deer came along and helped out where the goats left off and then the goats got out again... then something (I don't think the cat) had diarrhea all over my potato plant... SHEESH! So I have opted to buy more soil. I will either pull up or transplant most of it. I will leave the tomato and potatoes. I will probably replant the garlic. The corn I am not sure what to think of it. It has been growing well but with the tops being eaten, it probably won't tassel and make corn. So I may just pull them and feed them to the goats. The one lone lettuce plant is growing ok finally, but with this heat I am sure it will be bitter, so it is going as well. After I get the bed filled with more soil, I will put a fence around it and hopeful this will keep the critters out... right now my hopes are not very high. I am going to repost this in my blog I think. *sigh* http://www.lindercroft.net
