Monday, Week 6, Y9 & Y7Lite

I haven’t kept track of the kids’ school on the blog as much as I’d hoped. Keep feeling the posts get too long. It’s good to have the record though and nice to be able to look back.

School started around 9:10am with a break of about 20 minutes at 10:00am and lunch at 12ish. School was done by 2:00pm.

Y9 –Lee (10th grade)

Bible: reading- Ruth 3 (narration); study- Exodus 1, Egypt as an ‘institution’ (together, discussion); verse- recited Ephesians 6:10-18, read, wrote and recited Galatians 5:16-17; devotion- Christian Life ch 5 (narration)

Foreign Language: Latin (First Form, Lesson 25, worksheet 2); Greek (Hey Andrew! Teach Me Some Greek, Level 6, Lesson 2, reviewing flashcards); Sign Language (Signing Savvy, review)

Home Ec: Time management, errand running, plotting most logical, economical route; chores- breakfast dishes, vacuuming

Ohio Study: geography of Ohio, five physiographic regions and their characteristics (from state of Ohio web sources; geography and science, hmmm?)

History: A History of the American People, pp 96-100 (written narration); Peter the Great, ch 1 & 2

Math: Geometry, pg 26 (Mastering Essential Math Skills)

English (Grammar): Traditional English Sentence Style, finished ch 1 exercises; Commonplace book entry (2)

Current Events: 1 story (various online news sources: Student Daily News, CNN student news, NY and Washington Times, Plain Dealer (Cleveland, OH), Worldmag.com), recorded

 

Y7Lite –Fox (8th grade)

Bible: reading-  Judges 12 (narration); study- Exodus 1, Egypt as an ‘institution’ (together, discussion); verse- recited Psalm 51:1-8

Foreign Language: Latin (First Form, Lesson 25, worksheet 2); German (Transparent Language, Unit 3, Lesson 1)

Home Ec: Time management, errand running, plotting most logical, economical route; chores- lunch dishes, sweeping

Ohio Study: geography of Ohio, five physiographic regions and their characteristics (from state of Ohio web sources; geography and science, hmmm?)

History: The Birth of Britain, pp 75-79 (narration); In Freedom’s Cause, ch 3 (written narration)

Math: Algebra (No-Nonsense Algebra, Lesson 2-3)

English (Literature, Grammar, & Penmanship): Idylls of the King (Gareth & Lynnette, Pt 1); Jensen’s Grammar, Lesson 45; Pictures in Cursive, Book E

Nature Study: The Glow-Worm by Jean Henri Fabre, finished ch 1
