This being our first week back to school, I had great plans :) Plans of all the subjects getting done. Plans of great attitudes all day, every day. Plans of revived interest in completing chores. The best laid plans...are often laid to waste. Or something like that.
Our week has been great. I will mostly link to my other What We've Accomplished Today's with a few commentaries added here. Someday I will try to break this up into subjects instead of by child- it's a good thing I've only got two! This could be a very long post otherwise :)
Our first day, Monday, started with a long errand to the bank. School didn't get completely done because of that (well, that's one reason). We worked on weekly and monthly goals and decided that Monday mornings will be our Goal Setting Session. I think that the Goal Setting was the highlight of the day :)
Tuesday was a good day. The kids needed the routine again, I think. They probably wouldn't agree (or at least they would pretend to disagree). From my TOS Planner I printed off Daily Chores lists for both of the kids and put them on the fridge. They did well the first couple of days with the chores but...it's begun to wear off and they are once again needing to be constantly reminded to do their specific chores. This was the day that I registered for a Spanish class at the local community college. It has gotten Lee thinking about correspondence courses through the University of Wyoming... oh, how time flies!
Wednesday- absolutely best day in terms of school! Only a few subjects were left by the wayside and attitudes were great! And we ended the day with some homemade peanut butter cookies. It just doesn't get better than that- oh well, maybe some chocolate chips in those cookies could have made it better ;) I just can't imagine not homeschooling my kids... I love it!
Thursday felt like it was falling apart but it really wasn't- now that I look back on it. The kids built a fort in the living room after school was done and slept in there last night. They were right above my head while I was sleeping. Our house was made in 1929 and there are wooden, creaky floors upstairs. I anticipated no sleep but thankfully, they didn't move hardly at all! They must have been tired. I let them stay up until almost 11pm.
Today, Friday, Fox has already done quite a bit. Lee hasn't taken quite the initiative. She has done her Grammar (lesson 4), Bible verse (Deut. 6:4-7) and Latin (Lesson 10, worksheet 5). Fox has completed his Bible verse (Psalms 32:1-5), Geography (CBOM chapter 8), Latin (lesson 10, worksheet 5), his devotional (TGSET, chapter 52), and he is working on Greek now (Lesson 8). He has it planned to do Bible reading, Ten Marks, followed by Science and History (both of which are with me). He is hoping to be done quickly today I think because his friend gets out of school early on Fridays.

It's nice to see that other homeschooling moms may only have one day out of five that they really consider a great day as far as school accomplished. :-) Keepin' it real. LOL
ReplyDeleteI find it so difficult to get chores going well...it takes a couple weeks to get the kids into the habit of doing them, then something like sickness or a vacation interrupts the routine, and you gotta start over!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a productive week in spite of plans you feel may not have gone exactly according to, er, plans!
