How Does My Garden Grow?

You may have seen my posts about digging an area for my garden. I've finally got it where I want it and I hope to get some plants in there soon. Here's a bit what it looks like at the moment. Not very pretty, huh?

When my hubby and I were talking about supplies and the things I would need for the garden, he suggested we use organic materials. When he was growing up I'm thinking they used as natural as possible materials in their gardens. I can't say that I have followed this very well.

Our Pets Need Good Food, Too!

Most animal owners care a lot about their pets. They want to make sure that they are well taken care of and that they have things that they need. Fortunately, dogs and cats don't 'need' fancy things (unlike many people, eh?).

When I was growing up we always had at least one dog and a varied number of outside cats. The cats were lucky and found nice plump rats and mice in abundance because we lived in the country. The dogs, well, they were a different story. I do recall my mom making their food a lot of the time. She has always been big on nutrition and it makes sense that the dogs would benefit from that.

More recently, I met a friend who also made her dogs food. Homemade dog food is a good idea, I think, because you know what's in the food. You don't have to worry about the dog food you've purchased being recalled or if it contains what it should. And it is really easy to prepare food for your dog. The above recipe does have vitamin supplements because let's face it, our food is losing it's 'punch'- the nutrients aren't always as good as they once were. That is just how it is. Many people take vitamin supplements - I'm not surprised that there are supplements for dogs.
