The Weekend in Columbus

Friday through Sunday (9/21-23/12): about our Columbus trip.
ColConserv9.23.12

It was just me and Lee Smile (or is that “Lee and I”?). We chose to go to the places that the ‘boys’ wouldn’t have wanted to go- the art museum and a conservatory. Art and flowers. Ahhh. Smile COSI was closed for cleaning but we didn’t know that and had hoped to go there as well. On the first day we went to the Columbus Zoo and got to pet stingrays!
I didn’t take many photos at the zoo, partly because it was very overcast. But here is one that I took Smile He’s just day-dreaming away, oblivious to us visitors.

The second day was the Columbus Museum of Art, where we got in for free Winking smile and free parking! There were a few interactive spots on the first floor. The second is where the art work was –in galleries. We weren’t allowed to take photos of everything in the museum.

Lunch was going to be Wendy’s because near the art museum is there used to be the original Wendy’s. But I guess it’s closed down. It was nowhere to be found. We then decided to try Potbelly’s…but the entire street was closed down! The businesses are only open Monday-Friday. It just happened to be a Saturday. We walked for awhile and took photos. It was a beautiful day!

We did spend what seems like quite a bit of time in our hotel room. Generally we got up about 7:00 but everything we wanted to see opened 10:00am. We ate breakfast at Dunkin Donuts Saturday. Lee wanted to have donuts and coffee. So grown up Winking smile Lunch was at Arby’s. We drove around a bit, looking for something else to do. Nada, so back to the hotel. Oh, first we stopped at Pizza Hut for a medium pizza to share. We ate it all…
Sunday we had breakfast at Waffle House across the way from our hotel. It was pretty good and the service was good. The coffee was way too strong for me lol. Always something! *wink*
We decided to go to the Franklin Park Conservatory. It wasn’t high on our list of things to do while in Columbus but boy am I glad that we went! It was beautiful. There was an exhibit by Aurora Robson. It was actually throughout the conservatory. They were well done ‘sculptures’ out of plastic –one time use plastics. Also, and I didn’t get photos of it, were ‘art work’ made from junk mail and other medias. She has an agenda of course; the exhibit is titled ‘Sacrifice + Bliss’. Here are some photos we did take.

The majority of our photos were of …flowers. Heehee. But not all! Here are some highlights.

All together we have well over 200 photographs from the trip. On our way home we had chicken nuggets from McD’s (yes, we do like them). We got home a bit after 3:00 pm, I believe.
It was a great getaway for us girls. Very little stress, good times with my Lee, and lots of photos to remember it by.
