Yikes! What have I got myself into??!
Fun…that’s what I am participating this year (along with both of the kids). In order to not overwhelm them, we’ve decided to postpone reading/writing assignments. Well, not all of them of course. Fox will be relieved of his 30 minutes a day reading from his list and Lee will take November off from Excellence in Literature (just as soon as she finishes one more assignment).
I was sitting down just now to see how many credits I can count toward Lee’s high school transcript. I decided that each year will be worth 1/4 credit; by senior year she will have 2 credits toward Creative Writing. Since NaNoWriMo is only for the month of November she really can only spend up to 60 hours (if she spends 2 hours a day on it) on the entire ‘course’. That would be 1/2 credit. I will of course wait until the end of the month to figure the true number of credits to be awarded.
For those doing NaNoWriMo, there is a free software that lets you have ‘distraction free writing’. It’s called Pangurpad. I’d never heard of it but since it is provided to participants, I thought I would use it to see if it will help me to stay with my writing this time. (But I will point out that since this is the first day and I’m not well organized already, I may not use it…not sure lol)
Thanks to the question posed by Michelle (from A Life Better Than I Deserve), I will be blogging our way through NaNoWriMo. Check back next Tuesday for our first post
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? Have you started??
I keep thinking about doing the NaNoWritMo, but I keep not participating. Last year it was because we were using IEW SWI at that time. This year we are using IEW again, plus Teaching the Classics. That seems like enough writing. Are you going to blog about how it goes this year? I'd love to hear.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I will blog about it but I'm sure my posts will have a mention every so often.
ReplyDeleteBut as I think about it...
...since all three of us *are* doing it... I might just make it a weekly post. Hmmm...why, Michelle, that is a great idea! Thanks :D
