What We Accomplished… Day #9 7/21/11

Um… Thursday… school… what happened?? Oh! I mean to get these done the night of the day and post them but last night it didn’t happen. I’m sure I was doing something else and distracted myself.

Lee:

Bible: Reading (John 11), verse (Romans 6:1-4), did not do Mark commentary
Math: Khan Academy (multiplying triple digits and decimals, absolute value)
History/Geography: – was to read The Life of Christopher Columbus… didn’t.
Language Arts:Jensen’s Grammar was not done
Science: Biology (Lab 1- Dependent and Independent Variables)
Gov’t/Economics/Civics/Logic:I forgot to bring How to Read A Book and she didn’t read Utopia.
Foreign Language: – um, yea, no FL this week due to my forgetfulness.

Well, when I look at it this way, it doesn’t appear that she did much of her assigned work but for reference purposes I will point out that she spent quite a bit of time on Khan Academy (she got two Earth Badges- lol it’s elusive). She also had to take quite a bit of time to do her Biology lab. She did great on that. It was the first that she’s ever done. It required stating the purpose of the lab, what her procedure was (which entailed making charts, averaging results), stating the conclusion. There were also questions at the end of the lab to further help her understand about dependent/independent variables. Went well Smile Today (Friday) she must catch up on all school work for the week. Will see how that goes Smile

Fox:

Bible: Reading (Mark 4), verse (Matthew 6:31, 32, read, write, recite)
Math: Khan Academy (subtracting large numbers, adding fractions with like denominators)
History/Geography: What Everyone Should Know… (pages 90-91, written narration)
Language Arts: Hobbit (finished chapter 2), reading for 30 minutes (Fifty Famous Stories Retold)
Science: Murche’s (Lesson 4, vocab)
Gov’t/Economics/Civics/Logic: Whatever Happened to Penny Candy? (narrated chapter 1, not much to discuss)
Foreign Language:- uh, nope.
Penmanship: Pictures in Cursive

He did quite well but he tends to go way too fast. I had to make him reread his Bible reading today because it supposedly took about 1 minute to read the entire chapter. However, when asked for a narration, he could not give one. Red flag! Redo. He definitely needs to slow down. Perhaps I will have a timer for his subjects. I really do not want to do that but if he will not take the time to learn what he is reading then I will make him take the time. The goal is to learn, not just to finish.

Me:

Caught up on my Bible reading and Ministry of Motherhood SOAPs. Also was working on some other unimportant things. I tried to read ahead on The Age of Fable for Fox’s day today but didn’t seem to get very far.
