from the website:

"Zeezok Publishing’s Z-guide to Johnny Tremain is a great way to incorporate media into your study of the American Revolution. A silversmith’s apprentice turned messenger for the Sons of Liberty, Johnny overcomes rejection, false accusations, and a physical handicap to participate in the birth of a new nation. Run with Johnny through the streets of Boston to deliver the "one if by land; two if by sea" message. Then it’s off to join Johnny and the Minutemen on Lexington Green in time for the opening shots of the American War for Independence."
I included the information from the website because it says it so well. Now for what we did with this and how we liked it. Since we had the VHS of the 1957 Disney classic in our collection, it was fairly easy to get started. Admittedly, we didn't get through the entire movie guide but are planning on doing so!

We started by watching the movie and doing the Activity 1 worksheet while watching the movie. With pdfs it is nice that we can print what we need, when we need it. I liked that the questions were a mix of true/false, fill-in-the-blanks and short answer. As you go through the ebook movie guide there are other activities such as crossword puzzles and mazes, coloring pages, memorization as well as excerpts of relevant speeches and/or writings.

There is an example of how to schedule the movie guide throughout the week using the activities included. You can also choose which to include/exclude to fit your own schedule or liking.

Although it shows a 5 day week, this can easily be adapted to a shorter week, an extended study, and I can see this working quite well with a co-op class. *Must mention that the licensing for this is for the original purchaser to use- not for co-op use- but each student could purchase their own copy.*

One of the activities that I really liked were the Dover Publication coloring pages. My ds (age 11) dislikes coloring- perhaps he sees it as a 'childish' activity- but he loves Dover Publication! I was excited to see them in this movie guide.

Here are a few more screenshots that I made of our ebook:

Two features I appreciated were the Worldview questions in Activity 9 and the Family Discussion near the end. I really like that these questions get the kids thinking about what is being discussed.

Bottomline:
Great resource! This is something that I feel is a good value and well done. There are other titles that zGuides are available for- check them HERE. I would be interested in purchasing a few more of these in the future for use in our schooling.
