The week of Thanksgiving we took completely off of school. But here a few pics I took from that week. Lee made the Pumpkin Pie, I made the Apple Pie and everything else :) Oh, and after Thanksgiving I made homemade noodles- we had Turkey Noodle Soup with leftover turkey :) My turkey was very bad and it's popper refused to pop so we had very dry turkey...oh well, everything else was yummy!
So, on to this past week:
Monday the kids did ALEKS (you can see my review of this on 12/08) and a lot of reading. We were house sitting. Lee also had brought along her other school work that she could do by herself. Generally this is History/Geography, Logic, Economics, and...drawing a blank lol. Fox well, he brought things but there was a tv in the house we were at with cable. Gasp! Their eyes would glaze over when it would come on. It's actually quite amusing to watch. Even if it's some very juvenile show (I mean that as in a show for very young children) they would watch it.
Tuesday was my first day home- completely- in 11 days. It felt weird! I hadn't had any time to do my school work so had to scramble like crazy to get semi-caught up. Also, it seems without me, my household would collapse! It's nice to be needed ;) The kids and I did school as usual. Nothing to exciting about that day. Wednesday was pretty much the same.
Thursday, though was a pretty neat day. We got everything on our school list done (uh, except Plutarch's Lives- poor poor Julius Caesar- and perhaps art, which doesn't bother me too terribly bad because they are always doing something artistic :) We did make atomic cookies. Through our Physics book we made lithium atoms from peanut butter m&ms and sugar cookie dough. Turned out neat and we learned quite a bit. We also did History of English Literature for Girls and Boys for Lee's school. I actually enjoy that subject; it lends some insight into the literature that comes later. And last night we started our nightly reading of Voyage of the Dawn Treader in anticipation of the movie. We probably won't get to see it when it first comes out but it is something that is definitely going to happen. It's a bit like the DC and Marvel comics movies- I just have to watch them all. Okay, perhaps it's nothing at all like those.
Today being Friday... we've not done much school at all. Lee did Bible (reading and a memory verse) and History/Geography. The rest of the time has been spent reading, playing Wii, and on the computer. I personally finished my biographical essay for my college class and now must get back to my other paper that is due (along with my discussion posts that are mandatory- and did I mention I have to figure out what's for dinner??).
We have just two weeks until Christmas break and I'm so excited! We are planning on watching a lot of Christmas shows (you know the claymation of Rudolph? and also the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told) between now and then. It'll be great!
Wow! You did good! You made those noodles yourself? Looks really good!
ReplyDeleteYeppers, made them myself- well with some help from Lee. I think next time I need to not roll them so thin. I just thought of something totally awesome- making knot pasta! Perfect! I will do it as usual but I will knot it and let it dry. Nifty! Of course, it is best when cooked fresh.
ReplyDeleteThey were yummy!
The knots sound awesome... yup I agree!
