Monday! So Busy Today! This is a long one :)

Columbus Day, eh? Do you know what a kink this holiday has put in my day? Well, honestly, not much ... but I did hear grumbling because there was no mail to be delivered and because the library was closed. Personally, the only way it affected me (beside my ears to the above) was that I couldn't mail something. No big deal. And even if Christopher Columbus wasn't the original discoverer of North America- I'm still happy that this is where I live :) A day in the year to take a bit to study more about the history of our world never hurts (of course there were many people that enjoyed the day off and I'm sure they didn't reflect on that fact at all...oh well!)

We went to co-op this morning. I should probably rewind to Sunday. ...Oh. Sunday... I had almost forgotten that day already. I had to do a lot of praying on Sunday- I'm still saying prayers and asking God for direction and patience. We did not go to church Sunday evening and I did not feel inclined to go... many many prayers are needed. If you would offer a prayer for our family and our church, it would be so much appreciated.

So, after morning service Fox wanted to make something to take to co-op. We are to bring a main dish and a salad or dessert. I'm not a great cook (uh, I bored on just being good! heehee) so I don't really want to bring a main dish because I'm worried that it'll be bad. I shouldn't worry, I know. Anyway, so Fox and I decided on potato salad and brownies. I know that neither are main dishes- although I for one think that chocolate should definitely be one of the main food groups- mmmhmm. From almost the time we got home from church Fox was begging- "Can we start the potato salad now?" "Not yet, I need to make lunch." "Can we start the potato salad now?" "Not yet, the dishes need to be done so we have what we need to make the potato salad." "Can we ....?" You get the idea.

In between meals and chores we decided to make a batch of brownies- with the intent of eating the first batch!- because these took almost an hour, start to finish. And so the kids made the brownies by themselves with a little assistance from me. Was very good. But then it meant more dishes to be washed.

He got tired of waiting for me and asked if he could just get it going himself on the potato salad so I said yes. I had been in the process of cleaning out a bottom cupboard to be able to clear off the counter (amazing how stuff accumulates!). By the time I got dinner started and my counters cleaned, he'd washed and cut the potatoes, cut up two pickles, and an onion and was asking about cooking the potatoes. Wow, he was fast! Lee set the potatoes to cooking. We almost forgot the eggs...but luckily someone remembered!

Finally, the potato salad was done and ready to chill at 9:30 pm last night. The second batch of brownies was made, also by the kids, somewhere in there, too.

Lee had an orthodontist consultation this morning so she missed 1 1/2 classes at the co-op. We had gone to a different ortho for a consultation and yuck; the building 'felt' dirty, the dr. was short and not very informative, no x-rays were taken and he immediately said, "Pull two top teeth..." Uh, no thank you. The place just gave me the heebeejeebees. So this new place we went to we I was nervous about. I see no reason to pull teeth. None.

Yay! The ortho dr. doesn't see the need either :) Also the treatment plan would be 1 1/2 years, compared to 2+ at the other drs. She seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. I liked that. Not to mention the building was clean as well as felt that way. So I discussed it a bit with dh and will let you know what we decide :)

At co-op, I was able to chat with my friend and I love to chat :) Anyway, she has some things going on in her life right now (family members who are ill and possibly close to the end) and she is stressed out. I have only known her for about 5 months but she has always been such an upbeat person. Today, I could see that the stress is getting to her. If you would please add her and her family in with your prayers; she needs them.

After co-op we stopped at Nutters, a health food store and picked up some Amy's products, thanks to Christine at Our Homeschool Reviews. The total before my nifty coupons would have been about $17.30 (spendy at small health food stores!) but I paid $7.30~ $10.00 savings! I love Amy's products but it's been forever since I've bought any.

After our stop at Nutters we headed to Wally World to pick up some lunch goodies for my dear husband, but wouldn't you know, he beat me to it. I called him about 2 miles from the store and he was actually in the parking lot just leaving. Well, saved me a trip!

We got home and were reminded again that there was no mail delivered (highlight of the kids' day lol) and the library was closed (the other thing they live for!). We had only about 3 hours until we had to go to our 4H club meeting anyway and I figured they could easily find something to do. After all, they'd had a lot of stimulation and interaction and noise and stuff to do at co-op; they could have just relaxed! Well, I'm not sure that's possible. You ever notice how when kids are so bored that absolutely nothing is interesting to them? That means there is one thing that they want and one thing only. This was Lee's issue when we got home. She wanted to play her Zoo Tycoon game.

Okay, okay, a few chores and then I let her on. I trimmed Fox's hair (just around the ears and the back) and sent him to the bath- the shower is broken again. At 6:15 Lee and I attempted to head out the door to the 4H club meeting. Fox was still in the tub and dh was home so...off we went!

Lee ran for Secretary of the Goshen Drifters 4H Club and won by one vote :) Not bad for being the 'new girl'. She's excited but keeping it a reserved excitement. Fox won't be part of this club this year because he only wants to take archery which requires him to be in a different club. Lee is also going to be in the other club but will remain in Goshen Drifters- she's a bit obligated now. :)

Ah, and dinner was yummy good Pizza Hut pizza- nothing better (except maybe Little Caesar's or Amy's lol).

Now everyone else is in bed...most likely 2 of the 3 snoring ;) I am supposed to be reading for my classes but I thought I'd pop over here and put this down. It was a busy day. But it was a good day :)
