What We’ve Accomplished Today…09/01/10

WOW...It's September!! whoa...slow down! Where did the time go? I don't know but I guess I better start paying attention or the year will fly by without me.

Here's our WWAT for 09/01/10

Both:
Bible: Exodus 10
Verses: Lee: James 4:7, 8; Fox: Hebrews 4:12
Math: Lee: 3 Cities in LoF Beg. Algebra (it's getting harder for her...); Fox: Chapter 27 in LoF D&P (he also did two two-minute timed math sheets, one with 100 problems, the other with 80- over all he got 120 right...plan on continuing until he gets all them right and done)
Writing: Both worked on their books (I say 'books' but they call them a 'story'; you can see that I put their titles on the North Laurel Books page...TBA)
Latin: Lesson V; Recitation, Latin saying, Grammar questions to 35; read text pages 18 & 19; Workbook sections I & II (this lesson was a bit confusing; working with the irregular verb 'sum'; irregular because it does not stay constant. Because of that little fact, we had trouble with remembering/learning about the conjugations...I'm sure it'll all be made clearer as we go...I hope lol!)
Reading: Lee: Prince Caspian; Fox: Age of Fable, Abraham Lincoln's World
Natural History: Still with the Slum Kitty from Animal Heroes... Slum Kitty's kittens were shot and killed by Jap Malee's 'negro' (oh, yea, the kids and I talked about that -choice of words- awhile ago) :( And a small rabbit became part of the family, even nursed along with the other kittens but it died from illness :( Poor Slum Kitty has a rough life...
Plutarch's Lives: Julius Caesar....still! I have some printed material that we read on Caesar, Alexander and Solon and by far Caesar's has the most pages! I think eventually we will be done with it! It is interesting to hear about him though. Quite the man. If I count, we have been studying on Caesar for 7 months now- yikes!

Lee:
Geography: Brendan Voyage; pages 129-136; written narration
Health: Fearfully & Wonderfully Made; 1st half of chapter 14
History: World Studies; pages 61-63; vocabulary words; Section Review page 63 #1-4 & extra question- did well this time with using complete sentences and referencing her book (page numbers where she found the information).
Japanese: Unit 2 in Japanese for Beginners pages 17-22 (again...we have decided she needs 2 weeks for each Lesson/Unit in order to be able to retain the information).

Fox:
History: The Story of the World; chapter 7- Two Empires, Three Republics and One Kingdom: Two Empires and Three Republics & The Second Reich- pages 70-1; labelled maps (didn't do timeline today...)
Geography: Complete Book of Marvels; Chapter XXIII: St. Peter's- read 2nd half of chapter.
Biblical Studies?: The Greatest Story Ever Told, Chapter 20- Strange Word from the South
Military History: Boys' Book of Sea Fights (reading about Tocqueville)

And...I ...think...that's it! Took a bit longer today to get done but it's amazing how fast it goes when we do it :)

Was another good day! Yay...

  2. HAHA if we did it as we plan/schedule it would have been done a long time ago...He gets left behind quite often- but he's definitely in our heads now!
