So this 'week' is Medieval Day at our house. It takes the 'week' to plan it all out. Really it is just today but if they could they probably would do it all week. Well, maybe not Fox; he doesn't like the 'dress up' part. I hope that they will let me take photos (they drew all the blinds and said that "we don't want anyone to see us!" when I asked why...) to share.
We had french toast for breakfast (simply made with eggs, milk, and french bread) with milk. There will be Meat Pies with lunch and Cabbage Stew with Dumplings (with trenchers) for dinner. They confiscated two empty tuna cans and two tomato paste cans (those still are full!) to make their 'goblets' to use for dinner. After I made sure that the tuna tins were washed thoroughly, dd used the hot glue gun to stick them to the tomato paste cans.
They are both dressed up to play the parts. I unfortunately have been made a servant! How did that happen?! Dd has a long black tunic of sorts and over that a shorter dress that has slightly puffed sleeves. We wrapped yarn around her arm in a few places to make the sleeves 'puff' a bit more. She made herself a cape and a head covering :) Fox just is wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt. He had an apron, leg wrappings and a twisted 'scarf' for his hat. He said it was all too hot. I should have gotten my picture as soon as he got all dressed up! But being the servant...I had to make the food.
Here is the book we are using today...
How fun!!! What a great learning time.
