One of my Facebook friends started a group, and added me to it, for National Poetry Month. She shares a poem/poet each day. She posted one on April 14, 2015, that I really liked. It's short. {That's not why I like it!}
BISCUIT
by Jane Kenyon
The dog has cleaned his bowl
and his reward is a biscuit,
which I put in his mouth
like a priest offering the host.
I can't bear that trusting face!
He asks for bread, expects
bread, and I in my power
might have given him a stone.

I've lately been helping a friend get around when she needs to go to the doctor's office or get a prescription filled. She has a little Beagle named Biscuit; this poem was put up the same day I drove her out and about. And she gave Biscuit a treat.
It made me smile.
