Reading List on the Net {01.27.15}

Audiobooks. What's wrong with listening rather than reading? This article makes good points. "Our mode of enjoying a book can alter the way we absorb its material...Suffice it to say that listening and reading provided very different cognitive experiences."

Manners, Morals, and Charlotte Mason. Parenting tips from Miss Mason through fiction. "It is good, of course, to be in the habit oneself of being precise in speech and recounting of details, but as in many matters, in examining oneself one uses the gimlet glass, while using the mantle of charity in assessing the communications of others."-Wendi
"Fiction is of enormous value to us, whether we find it in poetry or romance; it teaches us morals and manners; what to do in given circumstances; what will happen if we behave in a certain way." -Miss Mason

John Locke's system for commonplace book. We were discussing commonplace books at the AO forum and Christy shared this resource. It's a little long but interesting.

Charlotte Mason mathematics. Math has always been from a textbook like Saxon for me, so this is definitely different. And this isn't being read on the net but I found the book online so I'm sharing it here.

Have those of you who have Kindles heard of the Push to Kindle browser extension? It is so easy to send webpages and documents to your Kindle for offline reading. Of the four I've listed above three were sent via Push to Kindle. The other I sent to my Kindle via email. Just another way of convenience.
