Weekly Wrap-Up, Week of 1/26/14

Well, it's been awhile since I posted last. I've wanted to keep this blog updated with what's going on with school and life but uh, it seems that school and life keep me away. Ironic, perhaps.

I might get around to adding some photos to this post later. But don't hold your breath.

Here's a quick {and I do mean quick- if it seems a bit long to you, trust me when I say it could be much longer} run-down of the week, in school and life:

Sunday {because the week does start on Sunday, right?}- we went to all day church. It's not really called "all day" but we leave for church at 9:30 am and get home about 3:00 pm. It's a really good day and way to do it, in my opinion. I enjoy spending the day at church, focusing on God's Word. The afternoon portion consists of a luncheon and a question/answer session. This week it was about Jonah; was he a false prophet? It's a question I've never considered in regards to Jonah. The other question was about Song of Solomon; who is the book written to? I appreciated our Pastor's answer {which I would butcher so I won't try to even paraphrase here}. The luncheon was all about baked potatoes. Huge potatoes, I might add!

Monday- The weather was very cold, with wind chil advisories. The kids hadn't been able to shovel properly for days {hubby wasn't happy about that but I felt it wasn't safe for them to do so}. I'm pretty sure the kids wanted to go to the library, which I refused to do because it was so cold, and because I wanted to make sure school got done. We flubbed last week's school. I've been praying to keep my mind focused on the task of homeschooling. Sometimes I get into the mindset that homeschooling gives me freedom to not do much. Sometimes, not always, it may mean I need to do more. So anyway, we had a very good day on Monday. Roundtable went well with all things planned getting covered. Both the kids finished all their daily work.

Tuesday- We missed something this day but I really am not recalling what exactly it was. I'm thinking that it was something in Roundtable. I know that since Fox is a little sick one day we skipped hymns. Perhaps it was this day. I've really enjoyed singing hymns this week. I didn't record which ones we've chosen but they've been good ones.

Wednesday- Fox didn't have Young Marines again. He hasn't had it since we've been back from our Winter Break, I don't think. But since he didn't have YM, he went with us instead to prayer meeting, which is better anyway. Oh, but I've just skipped the entire day, haven't I? The kids did a chemistry experiment of separating sand and salt. It was interesting and I'm not entirely sure it turned out 'right' but that's what they did. I did find my 'old' {from 2009 so not truly old} field microscope to examine the salt and sand. I'm glad I found it and suggested we take it with us when we do nature study. {Something to work on.} I think that was the highlight of the school day, as best I can recall.

Thursday- Went just fine but for a few hiccups. We'd intended to go out and about but that didn't happen. It wasn't a big deal since we were just going to go to the library. It was just a ho-hum regular kind of day.

Friday- Why, that's today! LOL. The weather is much warmer; the high was 30*F+! I think it got almost to 40*F actually. Quite warm compared to the rest of the week. We did go to the library today. Fox and I had books to pick up from the library, and the kids had the Microsoft Movie Maker class. And now it's already after 5:00 pm. Lee just got done with school and is working on chores. Fox was done around 4:00 pm, did chores and then made some sort of coconut dessert ...thing. It's in the oven now. After it's done I will make pizza. I'm actually going to eat one myself this time. I've not had one in quite awhile, and it sounds very yummy.

So there is the weekly wrap-up, for school and life in general. I could definitely add some more here but I'm on my Fire HD, with its small screen. Not so comfortable on the eyes. I'll work on adding some photos later or tomorrow.
