As I get older it seems that ideas, concepts, are more difficult to grasp and the ones I had before, they are forgotten. Hey, I’m not old…but the phrase “use it or lose it” is definitely ringing true for me.
I almost feel that I need to start at the beginning! Forget that Bachelor of Arts hanging on my wall, start me back at elementary school. Or so I feel some days. Today is one of those days.
I’m looking back at my kids’ school work to get a good idea of where they are and where they need to go from here; trying to recall the beginning of the year is a chore. Also I want to make ‘exams’ for them this term and each term afterwards. In order to make those exams worthwhile I need to know recall what has been covered in the first place.
Here is where I’ve been reading to give an idea of what to have on the exams: http://www.amblesideonline.org/library.shtml#pneuexams

Preparing these are giving me the impression that I need to keep somewhat more detailed records of what we cover, rather than just book titles and page numbers. I am looking forward to making these because I will get to review the information myself. It never hurts to go over it again…and again. Does it?
I have a lot of Charlotte Mason reading still to go before I get this all down. Good thing I consider myself a ‘life-long learner’.
