Stick & String Books

Before we went on our break from school and enjoyed the Thanksgiving holiday, I had mentioned that I had really hoped we could do some handcrafts to give as gifts. We didn’t get to the one thing that I’d really wanted to do: the stick and elastic book.

But we did make these off and on, even while we weren’t on holiday I took some photos of two of them. One I made and one Fox made. Mine is a gift that will be wrapped up just as soon as I’m done with this post (or maybe tomorrow) and Fox already gave his to Lee (as an Advent surprise- that’s another post).

    

 

  

 

I think they are super neat! Especially love Fox’s small ones. He’s made a few of them already for Lee. He even went outside while it was wet and rainy to find those sticks. I chose to make my sticks.

And you probably noticed that our ‘elastic’…isn’t. It is embroidery thread. We don’t usually have rubber bands around and decided to improvise. We think that it works great

Fox did make his in the way that it was instructed in the video. I chose to use scrapbook paper. Either way- I love them!
