Week Before Thanksgiving… Week #16

In my life this week…
…still a broken sink. I wasn’t able to fix it Sad smile But on the BRIGHT side- I won a $100 Target gift card!

In our homeschool this week…
…we are barely getting it done. Well, we are getting it done and in good time but ugh, we just don’t want to do it!

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
…Take a break! If you feel that you’re just pulling your hair out or that it is all a struggle, step back and do something else for awhile. But, uh, not too long…or you won’t want to get back to it.

I am inspired by…
…so many people! Most of them are online because I don’t get out much or talk to many people. But their continued praise of God and the way they just keep on keepin’ on. If they can do it (with God’s help Winking smile) then so can we.

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
…Sunday dh will finally be home so we will be driving to the airport to pick him up. I get to drive his truck Open-mouthed smile But before that, the kids and I will be going to church and then having a yummy dinner and great fellowship with our new church.

My favorite thing this week was…
…surprising to me, I think it may have been going to Wednesday night service. It was the first ‘prayer group’ I’ve ever been to and I enjoyed the time spent praying for so many people. Many that we prayed for I don’t know who they are but God knows. Even if I don’t ‘know’ them my prayers were still as heartfelt as if they were my friends.

Oh! And the kids finished their trebuchet (from Pitsco) and bug (from TeacherGeek). My reviews of these aren’t going to be live until December but I can tell you the EXCITEMENT these two items caused was wonderful!

What’s working/not working for us…
…After going back and forth about Lee’s science I have decided to make her continue with what we were using originally. It is a lot of work for her but there isn’t anything wrong with work. She has an A (based solely on completion of work assigned and tests- attitude would definitely drop that some). I found some resources to help her when needed and we may go slower because it is a college textbook (more detailed than most high school texts). And I switched Fox’s math…for now.

NaNoWriMo is definitely not getting done! We are still committed to working on it but we aren’t as diligent as we’d hoped. I cannot even stand to think of my ‘book’ right now lol.

Things I’m working on…
… my paper {STILL}, cleaning out my arts/crafts room {it will double as a guest bedroom}, being more sociable Smile

I’m reading…
… I’m not really. Other than what the kids are reading for school.

I’m cooking…
…Homemade rolls on Saturday to take to the Thanksgiving Dinner at church after service on Sunday. Otherwise, nothing special. I think I may make beans today. They’re easy Smile

I’m grateful for…
… the house I live in, the gift card I won, the unexpected money from one ortho office to help pay for the new orhto, my wonderful husband {can’t wait for him to be home!!}, my awesome kids, friends {irl and online} who are there to pray with/for me and just to talk to, that Thanksgiving is coming and this year it will be only the four of us {it’s nice to have family but we need to focus on our immediate family more}, this journaling experience that helps me put things in perspective, and most- that God loves me so much that he sent his son to die for my sins and that he is a gracious God.

I’m praying for…
…continued guidance from God in all that I do, for my friend Christy- safe travels over the Thanksgiving week, for my dh- safe travels back home, for myself- I need a rough scrubbing of my heart and mind.

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…
…in regard to a project that I do not want to do-
DS to me: “Just because you don’t want to do it, doesn’t mean you don’t do it.”
{now if I’d just recorded that so I could play it back for him…}

  1. Isn't that the beauty of homeschooling. The fact that you can curl up with your kids to eat popcorn & watch a movie at 2pm!! Thanks for linking up to TGIF. Have a GREAT thanksgiving & we'll see you next week,
    Beth =-)

  2. Glad you liked the prayer pail idea! That's awesome that your daughter went to her 1st prayer meeting, and I imagine having prayer requests on strips of paper is far cooler than tongue depressors for teenagers. :) But anything that helps remind and reinforce the practice is great.

    I'm only mothering littles right now, but there are many days I feel like pulling my hair out and don't feel like completing even the simple preschool work I have planned. *sigh* My motto: is it their bedtime yet?!
