What We Accomplished… Days #16 & 17 8/1/11 & 8/2/11

I have been neglecting my ‘work’ the last 4 days. Yep. The weekend is for cleaning. Nope, didn’t do any. Sunday is for church. Nope, didn’t go (Saturday made me sick). Monday is for paper route and school. Well, some of that got done. And really all of those days were for me to do my schoolwork. Can I say the cat ate my homework? No? Didn’t think so… No. I was reading the Twilight series, mostly. Shameful way to spend my time. I know.

The funny thing is: they aren’t really that great. Raise your hand if you’ve read them? The first, imho (and so professional opinion), is the best so far. I’ve read the first three. By the middle or possibly 3/4 of the way through the second book, New Moon, I was starting to skim. Repeats of temper tantrums, spoiled individuals, selfishness, rash decisions, and simple weirdness (nothing wrong with weirdness lol)- oh and of course a lot of heart accelerating almost but not quite ‘love’ scenes- oh and vampires (& werewolves) tearing people to shreds. I started- and finished- Eclipse today and bleh. Some good parts… but it was nothing new. I am waiting for the last book, I will admit because I don’t like not finishing a book series. If I start it…I finish it.

Now I can really hope to understand the book The Gospel According to Twilight by Elaine E. Heath. Although, I really do not think (again, my opinion- hey, this is my blog after all) that Mrs. Meyers intended there to be a message of salvation and such as is in the Gospel, in her book. I do think, however, that she wished to promote abstinence and marriage… (and obviously she kept out drugs and alcohol as well- so good, moral living). But hey, I’ve only read the books- no commentary by Stephenie Meyers, herself, saying otherwise.

And tomorrow, Wednesday, I am going to start the day with visiting a friend for coffee Smile I think that is the perfect way to atone for all my slacking the last week. I knew you would agree. (yes, it is sarcasm but I’m trying to make myself feel better and think that life is not about what you learn through doing ‘school’ but how you spend your time learning [sounds good doesn’t it- lol]) Life is short and I like to try to enjoy it. Okay, enough of the babbling! On to the accomplishments!

Monday = paper route day = not much school work for Lee Smile
