Monday Monday

For the first Monday in a while, it has been smooth (still busy though). Very grateful for that!

I set my alarm at 6:30 to make sure I had time to get ready- wanted to make pancakes or even coffee cake for breakfast for the kids- but my phone was threatening to die at about 5 am so I turned off the alarm to prolong its life. It worked but I didn't wake up again until 7:00 when I heard Lee up and about. I rushed in to the shower and while still sleeping I think proceeded to get ready. Lee made her own oatmeal and I made scrambled eggs with cheese for Fox and I. Coffee cake tomorrow, definitely!

We usually need to leave no later than 8:15 on Mondays to get to Scottsbluff for WNHEN Co-Op but since we had a few inches of snow the night before I thought it would be a swell idea to leave a little early. Lol what was I thinking. We left the house about 8:08 and then I felt the car head into the drive thru at the local coffee shop (3 D's Coffee & Tea- if you're ever in Torrington, WY, look 'em up- they are swell). Strange how that happens lol. I should have realized I wasn't supposed to be there when my window was frozen shut so I had to get out of the drive thru and go in. The plan was to buy just the kids some steamers because it's a bit of 'tradition' that we get something to drink on Mondays before Co-Op. I knew I was willing to spend the $ on theirs, but not something for myself- too cheap ;) LOL so when I placed my order and took out my debit card to pay I was informed that I was the victim of a random act of kindness and the lady that had just left, had left $5 to go toward the next person who came in. What a sweetie! I barely saw her as I walked in but wish I could have thanked her!

What a good way to start a Monday :) We did get to Co-Op either right at 9 or just a few minutes later and Co-Op went well. There were missing people because of weather and some are on vacation (in nice warm Florida- how dare they?! heehee). The choir didn't last as long which 'allowed' for me to have 1 1/2 hours for my creative writing class. Um... we made it through for about 45 minutes before looking at the clock lol. I was enjoying the dialogue, though (movies, Phil the Pizza and Bob the Spider- great conversations) and they were recommending movies.

Kids and I stopped at Sonic for lunch (which we do not usually do but since I didn't have Spanish class I thought "Okay!") and headed home. As soon as we got into Torrington we made a beeline for the Torrington Telegram office to pick up Lee's papers. 3 stacks - 2 of 50 and 1 of 75. She was so excited :) At home we all sat on the floor to get them wrapped. We should have gone on route then and not waited but I was so tired that I (yes, I) took a nap. I would have slept for quite awhile I think but got a phone call from a 4H leader reminding me that tickets to the Pancake Supper had to be turned in by 4pm. It was 3:22.

Headed to the 4H extension office and Lee ran in the tickets then we headed to her route. We figured it would take an hour or so to deliver the papers. It took 2 hours. Possibly a cause of that is we don't know the area we were in very well. Of course it isn't a large area so that's good. It was so cold though. At one point I brought the kids home to get warmer coverings (mom's are so not appreciated sometimes, nor their advice!) but that didn't work as instructed. Fox did not get his coat and was much colder than he would have been. Oh, don't worry, I didn't let him go out with a tshirt: he had a flannel jacket. But still, the coat would have been so much better. Sheesh. They did swell (my favorite word, I'd say, for this post!) but were so tired of it when we were done. We still had 2 or 3 papers left so not sure where we missed...

In the car after route Fox, being silly, asked why we are here (he had been talking about some silly show and was making fun of it when he turned serious and philosophical) and what is our purpose. Gulp. That's a tough one. He came to the conclusion on his own that we are God's creation and we were created to bring Him glory and praise. We may do other things in our lives but our purpose is to glorify God and to praise Him.

Now we've been home for awhile. They did their chores and I made spaghetti with 'garlic bread' (aka, wheat sliced bread smothered with butter and sprinkled with garlic, broiled to a nice color lol). They are at the library getting in their computer fix and I am relaxing. Feeling quite tired still though. Today was a busy day. Lee said that sleep sounded like a very good idea after we got home.

We still have to do math for both of them and I wanted to start on the next lesson on Latin (shouldn't take too long) because I ordered a second student text for them so they can have their own. Thought they'd like that :) Besides that, our day is pretty much done. Waiting for dear hubby to get home so I can spend some time with him and then it's sleep time. Ahhh.

Monday, Monday, Monday. It's been a good one :)
