I just like to share things- random things, useful things, all things :) So this post is about groups that I am a member of that shine! A wee note: I am mostly interested in CM style homeschooling (ahem, regardless of how I actually homeschool...) so a lot are of this sort but not all ;) Check some out! They are all Yahoo! Groups.
Shall we start? My absolute, hands-down favorite, come-back-to-at-least-twice-a-day favorite :) is first:
Amble Ramble: "This is a private group for AmblesideOnline homeschoolers who would like a list for the purpose of suggesting CM compatible alternatives to AO books, discussion of any and all CM compatible resources, and more general CM discussion and help. Unlike the main AO list, AO members may chat here about book substitutions, CM-related homeschooling, and personal life matters and challenges." The reason I like this particular group so much is because you can pretty much throw anything out there (within reason) that has to do with homeschooling using AO. I've seen posts about what books to substitute, why AO uses a British-veiwpoint of history, how to do mapwork, 'twaddle' discussions. It's just a great resource/group. Ambleside Online group is great also and I often go there, too.
Homeschool Links & Forms: "We provide a collection of links to websites and resources and also share forms to help in your homeschooling journey. There's currently over a 100 links in the links section (and our form files are growing)--but as our members share, these numbers will grow! We include: math, science, language arts, standardized tests providers, curriculum reviews/providers and a few homeschooling groups. All are welcome to join. Please feel free to share your own "favorite" homeschool links or forms." This group has so many resources in it's file section and links. I am constantly finding new things in this group.
3RHomeschooling: "This group is for those who wish to use, or would like to know more about, a literature based curriculum, including Charlotte Mason, An Old Fashioned Education, Sonlight, Ruth Beechick, Accelerated Achievement, Robinson, Konos, Classical, etc., This list is not exhaustive and you are not required to be using these specific curricula to join this group.<" I found this group (by way of OFE ) before I found AO. Although I really don't think that it is very often relevant to CM methods (sometimes...just not often) I still like this group for their insight.
A new group that might be of interest to homeschooling bloggers is Homeschool Bloggers Haven. "Welcome to Homeschooling Bloggers Haven group. We are looking for a variety of members: (1) If you have a homeschooling blog that you would like to share about with others; (2) If you have a particular homeschooling blog that you like to read and would like to share about it with others; (3) If you like reading homeschooling blogs and want to know how/where to find some to read; and (4) if you're just curious about what goes on in this homeschooling bloggers group. This group is all-inclusive. That means that members will share their blogging information on a variety of blogging formats and personal homeschooling a religious beliefs. This group is not for prostylizing, but for sharing blogging sites." I've come across a lot of interesting blogs just from the few days it has been up.
There are a few of my favorite groups :) I have a lot of favorites though so I may make another post some time.
Once a catch-all for our homeschool and everyday family life, now a spot for my meanderings about whatever comes to mind- and always books.

ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to mention: love the "regardless of how I actually homeschool" quote above. Are you living my life or what??
