Now, I am not an expert on homeschooling. No way, not even close! But there are so many great and wonderfully generous homeschoolers out there that share what great things they have done as well as many great educational companies willing to share their products for free.
If you look on my Curriculum page and/or my Links by Subject for Schooling page you can find many many sites and resources that are free (+ means free, = means it might cost something, no symbol means it costs). But just now I was getting caught up on some groups I am a member of and Micki (perhaps you know her??) gave us all a heads up on what she will be using this year for her 7th grader....and so far spending less than $10!
The great sites she shared? Here they are!
Language Arts:
Glencoe/McGraw-Hill Companies FREE workbooks grades 6-12 on this page...but check the rest of the site for more resources!
*Updated to add: Here's another that she didn't recommend but I think is great (and free!) Houghton-Mifflin. The link there takes you to the kids site for grades 6-8. Just put in Eduplace.com and you are at the homepage where you can pick other subjects or a different reading level for Language Arts.
Science:
Rader's Kapili.com FREE chemistry, biology, physics, basic math, astronomy resources
History:
American Heritage Kindergarten-12 full history lesson plans with resources; comes on a FREE CD or you can order printed materials in a binder for $19.50
American Heritage Kindergarten-12 full history lesson plans with resources; comes on a FREE CD or you can order printed materials in a binder for $19.50
FREE Resources for other subjects (and those already listed):
Curriclick Freebies there are a lot of freebies here for all ages and all subjects
Scholastic middle school is the page you will be taken to but on the left you can choose the grade you would like information for
Thanks for this. I will have to keep this in mind for next year. I actually like McGraw Hill readers and Language Arts.
